One of the reasons behind why I named this blog Purling Oaks.
This morning while catching up on my blog reading, I read one blogger's post of why she blogs that really touched my heart. An unanticipated outcome of my blogging is having family reading to see what I'm up to. I started this blog to join the community of knit bloggers. My knitting is of the low production variety lately and my posting has slowed to a weekly rather than almost daily pace. However, I still feel part of the community and TypePad's recent no-notice action to change the way their customers may interact with their readers has made me angry. Far more angry than I thought I could or would be. Six Apart is attempting to perform some damage control at this forum after their incredibly rude and canned reply to help tickets, including mine.
I have no wish at this time to move this blog to another domain and use another application for blogging. TypePad was working just fine and, generally, their changes were all for the good. I am hopeful that some folks at Six Apart will implement changes to return the ability to respond to readers without making the response public or having to use a work-around (which wouldn't work for me on my mobile anyway.) However, I will move if TypePad's treatment of paying customers does not change. This is the second instance of very poor customer relations that made a major impact on me.
Now, if I could only determine why I cannot comment on TypePad blogs......the "post" and "preview" buttons are grayed-out to me.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Why does this photo bring to my mind a bare-foot Stacey?
Have you tried refreshing when the buttons don't perk up for you? If you have, put in a Help Ticket.
I don't want to move either, but I really wish that 6Apart was not the parent company of TypePad because they have a history of not caring about users.
Btw, when is your aunt getting her own blog? I haven't forgotten her, ya know.

Grape juice? You know I'd never drink the hard stuff. O.o *gigglesnort* Although it would be great fun dancing around in a big bucket of those. (hearing The Chicken Dance in the background and Angie and I performing it in the big bucket)

The "post" and "preview" buttons are grayed out until you type in the comment box, or at least that is how is was here on your blog. Try it, hope it works!

ya know it's almost like typepad is trying to get rid of their small-time bloggers. i just don't get why they'd be so shoddy about their customer service otherwise.

I"ve been with Typepad very nearly 6 years now and I have to admit this comment thing was the last straw for me. I am indeed moving. It's a pain in the neck but it's time. I hope those of you who are staying can make them see sense.

I'm hoping they make it right... I really don't want to move. Thanks for that blog link, by the way -- nice!

I don't care where you post, as long as I can find you. Thanks for introducing me to your friends.

I posted about this today. I am angry about this change as well. I wrote a ticket to let them know. I wonder what kind of response I'll get.
I have no plans to move yet, mostly because I am blog stupid and Typepad is the easiest interface for me, but I will if I have to.

The fact of the matter is, you're paying for a service, and they just changed that service, without asking you. It's like ordering a blue car, then having the dealer give you the keys to a yellow one, saying "Oh, yellow cars are what people want, so we only sell yellow cars now. And, no, you can't have your money back."

Typepad has gotten worse and worse. This new change to the comment reply function sucks. That I didn't know about it just goes to show how infrequent my blogging has become. I'm on the fence now about whether to even continue to blog ot move to another hosting service.

hey yall - I'm so very sorry that this happened. We flubbed this one on a long weekend, and we're working on a fix right now.
As for the reply you've gotten, I'm so sorry for that too. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Those acorns are so cute!
The whole Typepad debacle makes me tired. Ginevra does seem like she gets it and I really hope they fix it. Soon. It totally freaked me out to see my replies online the next day. Good thing it was from my iPhone and my typing is limited on that thing at best.
If I leave a Typepad blog open too long, it won't let me post a comment either. I have no idea why.

I have suffered the inability to comment on several occasions sometimes for weeks on end as Cookie and Norma know. I suffered the same sort of canned and very unhelpful responses. I wonder why Ginevra didn't address that for you in her comment?
In terms of what CarrieK said about leaving a comment open too long before posting it? I found a work around there. Cut the comment, refresh the page, type one letter in the comment field which will activate the button and make it bold, paste the comment remove the letter and post. Works like a charm.
